Scrapbook Page for Dad
What do you give folks who have everything (or at least don't need anything) ? I am always stuck when it comes to my Dad. But this year, when I saw all the great stuff in the SU Summer Mini Catalogue, I knew what I was going to do...I made him two scrapbook pages...Er, well, I finished one so far...but I am going to make two pages!
I used the Nautical Expedition DSP from the Summer mini, as well as the Open Seas stamp set.
Have a look...(The Windward was the old wooden boat that he owned for most of my childhood). I thought that I would enter this one in the Simply Stampin Challenge #15: Anything but a card
The picture is from a slide that my grandfather took many many years ago. A few years ago, for Christmas, my uncle gave all of us some CD's full of Grandpa's photographs that he had had put on CD. I love having all of those family photos right at my finger tips.
Thanks for checking by!
Happy Stamping!

Christmas in July over at A La Card Monkey
Merry Christmas! Wow, for those of us here in the Northwest, who have only just started wearing shorts (and even today, I don't think we got over 20 C, and it is July for crying out loud!!), it is hard to start thinking about Christmas already! But since I just made a "Christmas"order from the new SU catalogue I was in the mood to make at least one Holiday card...Too bad the goods won't arrive in time for this challenge! It's Christmas in July over at A La Card Monkey this week. However, it reminded me of how much I liked the Christmas DSP I have left from the 2009/2010 catalogue.
And I wish I could remember what it was called (if you know, please leave it as a comment below, so much appreciated).
However, the Stamp set is from the new catalogue...Pennant Parade, and the new pennant punch too. I love those trees you can make with it! So cute! (and I also figured out how to make ice cream cones using the pennant punch and the cupcake sizzlets (retired), so that will be my next card!). The Be Merry stamp is also from a retired set I won as a door prize about three years ago.
Card stock: Real Red, Chocolate chip; Old Olive, very vanilla
DSP: Retired SU Christmas 2009/2010 IB&C
Ink: Chocolate chip, old olive and real red
Accessories: 1 3/4 " scallop punch, pennant punch, brights button collection, chocolate chip 5/8" grosgrain ribbon (retired), 1/8" Very Vanilla taffeta ribbon, stampin dimensionals.
Merry Christmas!

Happy Anniversary!
To my dear hubby whom I married 11 years ago today! I know Wisteria isn't his colour, but it was one of the colours from our wedding and I thought it went nicely with the Penny Black "Down the Aisle" stamp I dug out (that we used to make the thank you cards for our wedding) to make him an anniversary card.
The card stock, ink and DSP is all Stampin Up...The water colour pencils are Stampin up, but the ribbon is leftover from our wedding. (My mother trucked a whole lot of Wisteria, Lavender, Mauve (etc) Offray Ribbon from the factory in Montreal in a variety of widths and styles, and I still have all of the leftovers!)
The other thing is that we share our anniversary with my Dad and Stepmum, who have been married for 28 years today! So a happy anniversary to them as well!
And of course, I made them a card as well...Not with leftovers tho'

I found this Owl pattern paper when I was out last weekend (MME paper). It went so well with Stampin Up Cardstock in Chocolate Chip, Lucky Limeade and Old Olive. And the Stampin Up Owl Punch (that I borrowed from my girlfriend, who also celebrates her birthday today!) matches perfectly. I used googly eyes for the owls, and the itty bitty circle punch as well as the 3/4" circle punch to make the "leaves" on the branches. The owls and the 3/4" circles are slightly raised using the Stampin Dimensionals.
Oh what fun!
Happy Friday, Everyone!

A La Card Monkey 63 : Summer Sketch
I couldn't resist! Ever since I saw the Summer Sketch over at A La Card Monkey, I have been wanting to use the "Sunny Fun" SU Stamp set for this challenge. I also entered it in the Summer Challenge over at Getting Cricky and the one at Scrap-Creations
And when I went into the local stamping and scrapbook shop, and found this paper (My Mind's Eye), all I could think about were "Popsicles". This MME paper matches perfectly with two of the new Stampin' Up "In colours" from the new 2011-2012 IB & C...Lucky Limeade and Pool Party, as well as Rich Razzleberry from the Brights collection.
Card Stock: Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry, whisper white
DSP: Brights collection as well as MME "Lime Twist"
Stamp set: Sunny fun
Accesories: whisper white taffeta ribbon 5/8", stampin dimensionals, water colour pencils, Buttons, Brights collection,

A La Card Monkey #63 Guest Designer
Ack! Forgive me as I am about 48 hours behind! (But Lake Cowichan was beautiful yesterday, altho windy enough that we had to go chasing beach toys and boogie boards more than once during the afternoon!).
Speaking of the beach, I had so much fun creating this card for A La Card Monkey Challenge 63: Summer & Sketch
Think Summer...well, around here that means the beach, just about every single day...For more inspiration I had a look at some of our photos from previous beach trips as well as my collection of beach treasures...Driftwood, sand dollars, beautiful shells and polished stones, and of course my jars of beach glass.
Initially, I had planned to use the new SU stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalogue . But once I got going, the colours were too soft for that set (really needs to be bright and bouncy to do it justice for me). I went to work creating the card, and ended up pulling out an old PSX stamp from 1993. It was the one I used for our wedding invitations once upon a time (since we were married at the beach).
I was left so inspired by the colours and the project that I lined up everything to go back and make a couple of scrapbook pages...And then we decided to go to the beach instead...Must be Summer!
Hope you enjoy!
